Story

Gelendzhik attracts numerous tourists annually thanks to its rich natural beauty and cultural heritage. However, today, access to landmarks along the Markotkh Ridge is limited due to insufficient infrastructure. Currently, there’s no direct connection between the seafront and the mountain — visitors must rely solely on taxi services to reach the trailheads.

We propose linking the city waterfront to the mountain through a network of cable car stations and an eco-trail. This solution provides direct access to the region’s natural and historical landmarks, such as ancient dolmens, waterfalls, lakes, and historical ruins.

Concept

Eco Skyway is a project consisting of three cable car stations and an eco-trail with a total length of about 15 kilometers.

This route connects numerous unique natural and historical sites of Markotkh Ridge, including ancient dolmens, Poklonny Cross, Ploskaya Mountain, Golubaya Bezdna cliffs, Pshada and Zhane waterfalls, the picturesque Lake Abrau, Natasha Spring, and the iconic Sail Rock.

Along the route, comfortable recreational areas, food courts, camping and glamping sites will be arranged. Bicycle rental points and horseback riding opportunities will be provided, complemented by art installations and well-thought-out navigation.

Layouts

The design of the cable car stations is inspired by the geometry and natural forms of Gelendzhik Bay. Elliptical shapes, smooth lines, and minimalist structures blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Each station serves not merely as functional infrastructure but as a distinct architectural landmark
